Deborah Rhea Seehorn, a Norfolk native, was born May 12, 1972. Her mother was
an executive secretary of the United States Navy, her father was an agent with
the Naval Investigative Service. The family resided in Washington, D.C.,
Arizona, Japan, and often moved around during her youth. Following the
footsteps of her father and grandmother and mother, she was a student of
drawing, painting and architecture at the age of a child. As she pursued her
love of the art of the visual, she found a passion for acting. She was also
introduced to modern theater in college. She earned a bachelor's degree in
Studio Art from George Mason University in 1994. In college, Seehorn was
looking to pursue a career in theater after the encouragement of her acting
coach. She was employed in ancillary positions in the theatre industry in D.C.
to try to be noticed. She was able to secure certain parts in local theatre
productions. But she was forced to do odd jobs to earn a living. In order to
pay for the expenses, she also took on roles in short instructional films. Soon
she began to be part of more television productions. The most frequent
comparisons she was made was to Bea Arthur, who she described as "very
wry," "sarcastic, and knowing" women. But, the majority of the
roles she played were part-time series that ended after one or two seasons. In
the month of May, 2014, Seehorn was cast in the Breaking Bad spin-off prequel
series Better Call Saul. Seehorn portrays Kim Wexler, a lawyer and the love
interest of the titular Jimmy McGill/Saul Wellman (Bob Odenkirk).
