Tina Louise Biography
Tina Louise (born Tatiana Josivovna Chernova Blacker on February 11 1934) is an American writer, performer and actress probably most famous for, from 1964 to 1967, her role as film star Ginger Grant in the CBS Gilligan's Island. Her stage career started in the 1950s. The actress was later chosen to play the role of God's Little Acre, a 1957 drama film. For this role, she won the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year. Louise also played in a number of Hollywood movies including The Trap and Day of the Outlaw. Louise returned to film in the years following and was in The Wrecking Crew and The Happy Ending. Tina Blacker was born in New York to Jewish parents. According to one source, her birthname was Tatiana Josivovna Chernova Blacker. At 4 years old the parents of her divorced parents were no longer together. A single child her mother was her mother, Sylvia Horn (nee Myers) Blacker (1916-2011), a fashion model. Tina's father, Joseph Blacker, was a candy store owner in Brooklyn and later an accountant. The name "Louise" was introduced during her senior year of high school when she mentioned to her drama teacher that she was the only girl in the class without a middle name. The teacher chose the name "Louise" and it stayed. She went to Miami University in Ohio.
