Amanda Tapping Biography
Amanda Tapping (born 28 August 1965) is an English-born Canadian actress and director. She is most famous for portraying Samantha Carter in the Canadian-American television show of military science fiction Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. She also was the main character of the science-fiction-fantasy TV series Sanctuary. She attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute, where she excelled in Environmental Science and Drama. But, after she graduated in 1984, she decided to concentrate on drama, and enrolled at the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts in Windsor, Ontario.After graduation, Tapping continued to pursue her studies in Theatrical Arts as well as performing in various stage productions. Tapping appeared in a number of television commercials as well as a variety roles in television and film productions, including The Outer Limits. She also formed an ensemble of comedians, known as the "Random Acts", with collaborators Katherine Jackson and Anne Marie Kerr and was a part of Toronto in the beginning of the 1990s.
